Long Slide Falls 2005 Long Slide Falls was inspired from the Long Slid Falls in Pembine, Wisconsin. Pembine started as a logging town in 1886—the beaded screen is 86 beads in diameter. The falls are 50 feet high--the screen is 5 feet long. Made from Plastic beads, this piece recalls the first movie screens made of glass beads. In the spring, Spring Peepers use the falls to begin their life. No bigger then a dime, the frogs carpet the unique rock formations that form the falls. The clay frogs in my piece create an inner battle between desire and destruction. A person is forced to step on and destroy the frogs if they want to view the falls up close.
